MCMA joins MPA's conference in Springfield

Dear MCMA member,
We hope your summer is going well. We are writing to inform you of the fall business meeting, as well as a few other items.
The officers decided to conduct the meeting during the Missouri Press Association's conference, which is being held Sept. 9-11 in Springfield. Our meeting is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. at the University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center. The room is "John Q's."
The MPA doesn't require MCMA members to pay for registration unless members want to attend an event where a meal is served. The MCMA newspapers that were invited to attend the Saturday awards luncheon don't have to pay for the meals. Any lecture or workshop is open to MCMA members.
However, the MPA does require us to fill out registration forms, which can be downloaded from its Web site at www.mopress.com. This is to ensure the number of people, as well as information for nametags. When it is filled out, mail it to the MPA. You can find the form under "registration."
The MCMA can also use the discounted rate for hotel rooms. The rate is $89 and includes up to four people in a room. Ask for the Missouri Press Association room block. The catch here is the cut-off for guaranteed rooms expires Aug. 9. The hotel will still offer rooms with that rate if any are still available.
Any additional information about the MPA conference can be found on its Web site for now. We will try to update the MCMA Web site very soon. Until then, check out mopress.com.
As for other business, we are still trying to compile a complete and updated list of member publications for our Web site. We are looking for the following information: name of paper, school, mailing address, phone, fax, e-mail, Web site, adviser, adviser's e-mail and phone. Please e-mail this information to mcmaofficers@yahoo.com.
We also want all schools to join our electronic mailing list, which is mcma@yahoogroups.com. This is so only one e-mail address needs to be typed for everyone to receive the same message. It will save a ton of time!!! To join, send an e-mail to mcma-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
