I have received 'Of the Year' application from the
following:

Journalist:
Ben Nielsen - SBU
James Samons - SEMO
Jessica Oliver - SBU
Alyson Browning- SBU
Whitney McFerron - Truman
Paul Hackbarth - UMSL
Barbora Batokova - Cottey
Dennis Sharkey - Northwest Mo State

Photojournalist:
Adam Wiseman - UMSL

Adviser:
Tammy Merrett-Murry - SLCC Meramec

If you sent an application but your name is not on the
list, please contact us immediately.

We also need volunteers to serve on the judging panels
for each award. We'll need advisers and students to
volunteer. HOWEVER, if your school has nominated a
candidate, you are not eligible to serve on the
judging panel for that category. Basically, nobody
from SBU, Truman, SEMO, UMSL, Northwest or Cottey can
serve on the journalist juding panel. UMSL may not
have a judge on the photojournalist panel, and SLCC
Meramec can't have anyone on the adviser panel.

If possible, the winners of last year's awards need to
serve on the judging panels (i.e. last year's
Journalist of the Year will need to serve on the
journalist judging panel, as long as her school
doesn't have a nominee)

We need volunteers to commit by Friday, March 24 so we
can fax you the application. Last year judges didn't
receive the applications until the night of
interviews, which made the process much slower.
Interviews will take place on Saturday, April 7
starting at 6 p.m. in the Westport Sheraton conference
center. All judges and candidates must be there.
Winners will be announced at the awards banquets.

Another reminder - tomorrow is the LAST DAY to get
hotel reservations at our group rate. Please call the
hotel asap if you haven't already reserved rooms for
your school.

You can call the central reservations office at
1-888-627-7064 or the hotel reservations office at
1-800-822-3535. Again, rooms are $89/night.

As always, let us know if you have questions. We check our email account (mcma_online@yahoo.com) daily.

Hope you're all doing fabulously. Only a few weeks to
go!
